Heat a pan and add sunflower oil.
Once the oil is hot, add mustard seeds and asafoetida (hing).
Tear the mor milagai (dried green chilies) into smaller pieces and add them to the oil.
Add the manathakkali kai vathal (dried manathakkali berries) and fry them.
Add salt and mix well.
Cover the pan with a lid and keep stirring at regular intervals as the manathakkali berries will burst.
Once cooked, add coriander leaves, switch off the heat, and allow it to cool.
Add yogurt and dilute with water to achieve a raita consistency.
Mix well.
Marinate for at least 1 hour in the fridge or at room temperature.
Serve chilled or at room temperature.
