Wash the urad dal thoroughly with water.
Soak the lentils in water for 4 to 5 hours.
Drain the water and keep the lentils separately.
Pour some water in a pressure cooker.
Add a steamer pan and then the dal to it.
Close the cooker and cook until 3 whistles.
Turn off the gas and let the pressure drain.
Open the cooker and keep the lentils separately.
Heat ghee in a pan.
Add cumin seeds and asafoetida and cook until the cumin seeds crackle.
Add chopped onion, ginger, and green chili, and cook until the onion becomes soft.
Add cooked urad dal, turmeric powder, salt, garam masala powder, and coriander powder, and mix well.
Cover the pan and let it cook for 3 to 4 minutes.
Add lemon juice to it and mix.
Garnish with green coriander and serve.
