Saffron strands
Bring 2.5 cups of water to a boil in a saucepan.
Add 1 tablespoon of coarsely ground, lightly roasted green coffee beans.
Boil for 10 minutes.
Add 1 tablespoon of crushed cardamom pods/seeds.
Stir once and boil for another 4-5 minutes.
Switch off the flame, cover, and let the coffee grounds settle at the bottom for 1 minute (do not stir).
Add 1 teaspoon of rose water and 1/8 teaspoon of saffron strands (optional).
Strain and pour the steaming coffee into a flask or teapot.
Serve hot in a dallah/kulhar with dates.
