Add the grated Fels Naptha soap to the saucepan.
Heat the mixture on low heat.
Stir the mixture until the soap is completely dissolved.
Add the Washing soda and borax to the mixture.
Stir until the mixture thickens.
Remove the mixture from the heat.
Add 1 quart of hot water to a 2-gallon bucket.
Add the soap mixture to the bucket.
Mix the contents of the bucket well.
Fill the bucket with hot water.
Mix the contents of the bucket well again.
Cover the bucket.
Set the bucket aside for 24 hours.
Use 1/2 cup of the mixture per load of laundry.
For heavily soiled clothes, use 1 cup of the mixture per load.
