Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Prepare a large bundt or tube pan with a light coating of cooking spray.
In a bowl, mix together the sliced apples, 5 tablespoons of sugar, and 2 tablespoons of cinnamon.
Set the apple mixture aside.
In a large bowl, combine 3 cups of unsifted all-purpose flour, 2 cups of sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
Add 4 eggs, 1 cup of vegetable oil, 2 teaspoons of vanilla, and 1/3 cup of orange juice to the dry ingredients.
Add 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder and 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking soda.
Mix at medium speed for one minute.
Scrape down the sides of the bowl to ensure all ingredients are incorporated.
Mix for an additional 3 minutes.
Pour one third of the batter into the prepared baking pan.
Cover the batter with half of the seasoned apples.
Repeat with another one third of the batter and the remaining apples.
Finish with the final one third of batter.
Bake for 90 to 105 minutes. Check for doneness with a toothpick.
Remove from oven and cool for 10 minutes.
Invert the cake onto a serving plate.
While the cake is cooling, combine 1 1/2 cups of powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons of softened butter, 1 1/2 teaspoons of vanilla, 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon, and 1-2 tablespoons of water in a bowl.
Whisk until smooth.
Drizzle the glaze on top of the cake.
