Prepare all ingredients.
Grind coconut, small onions, green chilies, curry leaves, and cumin seeds into a paste using a mixer grinder.
Heat oil in a Kadhai (wok).
Add mustard seeds and let them splutter.
Add cumin seeds, curry leaves, and dry red chilies and cook for 10 seconds.
Add the chopped mushrooms and turmeric powder and mix well.
Cook for 10-15 minutes.
Add the coconut paste, mix well, and cover to cook for 10 minutes.
Add salt, mix, and serve hot.
Serve Mushroom Thoran with Chau Chau Sambar, rice, and papad for lunch.
