In a medium saucepan, combine the cherry flavored gelatin and the syrup mixture.
Heat the mixture over medium heat and stir until the gelatin is completely dissolved.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the cream sherry.
Chill the gelatin mixture in the refrigerator until it is partially set.
Reserve 2 pear halves for garnish. Slice these pear halves and set them aside.
Chop the remaining pear halves into smaller pieces.
Once the gelatin is partially set, gently fold in the chopped pears and cherries.
Chill the fruit salad in the refrigerator until it is completely firm.
Unmold the fruit salad onto a serving plate.
Garnish the salad with lettuce leaves and the sliced pear halves that you reserved.
Refrigerate the salad until ready to serve.
