Rinse black beans.
Wash the carrot and roughly chop.
Chop the onion (1/5th).
Mince the garlic clove.
In a blender, combine the black beans, carrot, onion, garlic, soy sauce, salt, pepper, paprika, and cumin.
Blend until the mixture is mushy but not completely smooth.
Remove the mixture from the blender.
Clean the blender.
Add bread slices and curry powder to the blender.
Blend until you have about 1 cup of fine bread crumbs.
In a bowl, combine the bean mixture and the bread crumbs.
Mix thoroughly by hand.
Form the mixture into patties.
Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
Fry the patties in the warm oil until browned and crispy on both sides.
Serve immediately.
