In a food processor, puree half of the strawberries, half of the raspberries, and 1/2 cup of sugar.

If preparing ahead, refrigerate at this stage.
Slice the remaining strawberries and mix with 2 tablespoons of sugar.
Just before serving, add the sliced strawberries, remaining raspberries, and orange slices to the sangria.
Stir gently to combine.
Pour into glasses or serve from a punch bowl.
